Does the South Beach Diet contain carbohydrates?
The South Beach Diet® focuses on the quality of the carbohydrates you are eating each day. Because the first phase includes carbohydrates mainly from vegetables, this phase will inherently be low in carbohydrates. During South Beat Diet Phase 2 the focus continues to be on the quality not quantity of carbohydrates, as you re-introduce carbohydrates like fruits, whole grains, starchy vegetables and beans back into your diet plan. Phase 2 will still be low in carbohydrate intake as you enjoy a variety of “good” carbohydrates each day. Overall, white the South Beach Diet does not cut carbs out completely, it is a low carb diet.
